Culture Division / Neukölln District Office of Berlin, Department of Education, Culture, and Sports / Office for Continuing Education and Culture / Culture Division.

We strive to make our website and mobile application accessible. The Digital Accessibility Statement is required under the Berlin Act on Accessible Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility are derived from BITV 2.0.

This Digital Accessibility Statement applies to the website https://stadtkultur-neukoelln.de

Creation of this Accessibility Statement

This statement was created on February 3, 2026.

How accessible is the website?

This website is partially accessible. It only partially meets the requirements of BITV 2.0.

Which sections are not accessible?

The sections listed below are not accessible for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with BITV 2.0

Sections that are not accessible:

  1. Barrier:

    1. Description: Lack of plain language. The website does not yet offer all content in plain language. This makes it difficult for people with learning or reading difficulties, cognitive impairments, or limited German language skills to fully access information about art in public spaces in Neukölln.
    2. Actions: A glossary in plain language is already available. Additional content will be translated into plain language on a step-by-step basis. Priority will be given to key pages (homepage, contact information, overview of artworks).
    3. Timeline: We are continuously working to make additional content available in plain language. Implementation will proceed step by step, depending on available personnel and financial resources.
    4. Accessible alternative: Please feel free to contact the Neukölln Department of Culture
      By email: kultur@bezirksamt-neukoelln.de
      By phone: 030 90239 2431
  2. Barrier:

    1. Description: Missing information in German Sign Language: The website does not provide content in German Sign Language (DGS). Deaf people whose first language is sign language therefore have limited access to important information about the Art in Architecture projects in Neukölln. Written texts often do not provide an equivalent alternative for this user group.
    2. Measures:
      • Provide videos in German Sign Language for key content (e.g., welcome message, explanation of services, contact information)
      • Involvement of a DGS interpreter for key information pages; labeling of DGS content with a clearly recognizable symbol
      • Provision of audio description that describes key visual content, either as a separate audio track or narrated within existing
    3. Timeline: Due to staffing and cost constraints, implementing this measure is not currently feasible. However, we are working to find a solution and will communicate the relevant timeline as soon as possible.
    4. Accessible alternative: Please contact the Neukölln Department of Culture
      By email: kultur@bezirksamt-neukoelln.de
      By phone: 030 90239 2431
