“& / und und an sich” features a wave-like curve that symbolizes movement. The lines are reminiscent of letters such as C, O, U, or the ampersand (&), which originates from Latin and signifies both connection and separation. The lines overlap, and the form shifts between the impression of flowing movement and a concrete symbol.
Placed at the entrance to the Center for Language and Movement on the Efeuweg Campus, the sculpture visualizes education as a dynamic process. The curve describes an empty space in the air and represents movement and tension. It stands for communication, repetition, and exchange—the central themes of the center: language, music, and movement. Education moves between openness and withdrawal, between sign and movement.
