Gropius' Kulturinseln

Art, Events, and Community in Gropiusstadt

Four locations, three years, one network: Through “Gropius’ Cultural Islands,” the Culture Department of the Neukölln District Office will revitalize four central public spaces in Gropiusstadt from 2026 to 2028 with site-specific artistic interventions. At Lipschitzplatz, Pavillonplatz, Wildmeisterdamm, and Apfelsinenplatz, formats will emerge that bring art and culture directly into the neighborhood’s everyday life.

In the process, public space becomes an aesthetic meeting place—a place where art not only adorns, but also provokes, inspires, and energizes. The residents of Gropiusstadt are not merely an audience but are actively involved in the artistic processes. Through the interplay of the four locations, a vibrant network of cultural topographies emerges, spanning the entire neighborhood.
