Pavillonplatz

As part of “Gropius‘ Kulturinseln,” artists Nuray Demir and Pia Lanzinger are transforming the newly redesigned Pavillonplatz in the Grünzug into a social space for interaction, featuring a temporary tea as an artistic setting. Together, tehx create a room for encounters, conversation, and community.

Walter Gropius dreamed of a city that not only provides housing but also brings people together. The artists take up this idea and ask: What holds a neighborhood together? Who looks out for whom, and why? How do care and trust develop between people who live next door or in the same neighborhood?

The tea room is intended to be an open space for all residents. Over a cup of tea, the artists invite you to join the conversation, share your own questions and thoughts, and reflect together on what unites the neighborhood and how it can inspire one another. The voices and perspectives of the neighborhood will form the core of the project.

The tea room opens in June and will be open all summer long. The project will conclude in September with a large community picnic—an open-air celebration of the neighborhood, right where encounters are meant to take place.

Everyone is invited to stop by—with questions and wishes in tow.
