Audio Walks Through the Rudow Women´s Quarter
What if a neighborhood didn’t just bear women’s names, but actually prioritized women’s needs? The project “More Than Names—Creating Spaces for Women” in the Frauenviertel Rudow explores precisely this question.
A performative audio walk with accompanying visual material invites participants to rediscover the Women’s Quarter and help shape it together. Developed by actress and director Mareike Wenzel and artist Anna Krenz, they set out on a journey of discovery alongside women from Neukölln: Who were the historical figures from Neukölln whose names the streets bear? What parallels exist with today? And above all: What would a neighborhood look like that not only bears women’s names but actually addresses the needs of women?
New narratives emerge, old role models are questioned, and stories of solidarity and cooperation are rewriting the Frauenviertel. Because local women* have extraordinary stories to tell—yet their voices have often been overlooked.

In 10 episodes, the audio walk combines city history, feminist perspectives, and performative elements. Follow the stops along the audio walk—sometimes you’ll linger in one place, other times you’ll move on. Plan on about 2 hours to give yourself time to look and listen.
